These pets have been saved, thanks to their rescuer Denise  and the kindness of Foster Carers who are looking after them temporarily, but they are still looking for homes. Please note that descriptions of dogs as purebred (rather than crossbreed) is given in good faith and is based on assessment of the dog's features, together with veterinary opinion. We cannot guarantee the age, breed or purebred state of any dogs listed.

If Denise's rescued dogs require any additional surgery (eg. dental, dew claws removal etc.) then this is also performed when their routine vet work is done and included in the adoption fee.

The age given for puppies is their approximate age on the date they were listed for adoption. To obtain the current age, please add on the number of weeks since that date. The estimated size of puppies when fully grown is given in good faith as a guide only.

This image wiIl be shown on a listing when a dog has been adopted and gone on a two week trial so please do not contact Denise as the sign will be removed if the dog becomes available again.

COTTON

Female Maltese X

Aged approx. 6 years

Small size

Cotton came to us scared and timid however, over the last three weeks, she has completely transformed into a loving, outgoing and loyal companion. She LOVES her walks; however as she is a little older, a quick walk up to the local park twice a day is more than enough to keep her satisfied. Cotton is also very obedient off the leash - coming when called and waiting at roads when asked. She has cataracts, so her vision is slightly blurred, but this doesn't deter her at all and she can do anything any other dog can do - especially when it comes to detecting food! Cotton will keep your kitchen floor sparkling clean; she's as fast as a rocket when any scraps hit the ground! Cotton has very good house manners and is very good at night, she goes straight to sleep when the lights are turned out and doesn't make a peep until the morning - she's even been known to want a little more shut eye when her foster parents wake up earlier than she deems acceptable. Cotton is still a little unsure around other dogs and, rather than playing, she tends to say hello and investigate with a few barks. Cotton loves lots of TLC and, although she has begun to come out of her shell, she is still a little wary of any sudden movements made around her or rough playing so a home without children and one with 'gentle love' would be best.

TOBY

Male Maltese X

Aged approx. 10 years

Small size

Toby is an older boy who enjoys sitting next to you on the couch with his head in your lap and loves 'his' humans but can be a bit wary of strangers. He is not suitable to be rehomed with young children because he can get frightened when people approach him suddenly so we would like Toby to go to a home that suits his personality and where there is no undue stress. Toby's foster carer has had him for a little while now and understands his personality well so knows that he needs a home with an experienced owner who will not let him be 'top dog'. Toby is not a 'morning person' and will stay in his basket for a lie-in until he is ready to start the day. He ignores cats and gets on well with other small dogs but would also be fine as an only dog. Toby is a house dog with a coat that requires regular grooming and he is house trained.

Toby comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention for the special adoption fee of $150 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. If you would like more information on Toby or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. Before phoning or emailing, please check Denise's rescued dogs in foster care on www.paws.com.au for any updated photos and to make sure this dog is still available for adoption. BART

Male Purebred Maltese

Aged approx. 3 years

Small size

Bart is a delightful boy with a fun outlook on life. He enjoys the company of the other dogs in his foster home and goes in and out of the doggy door with ease. Bart is a little larger than the average Maltese weighing in at 9kg when he came from the Pound. He would love the company of another dog his size if his carers are at work all day and a home with a family who will take him on regular walks and allow him to be a member of the family. Bart is a house dog with a coat that will require regular grooming.

Bart comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. He has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). If you would like more information on Bart or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. MISTLETOE

Female Dachshund X

Aged approx. 8 years

Small size

Mistletoe (Missy) was saved at Christmas time, hence the festive name! She is now sporting a magnificent, thick and pretty coloured coat but in her previous life she had been very neglected for a long period of time and arrived almost bald. Mistletoe has thrived in foster care with her doggy brothers and sisters there to show her the way to enjoy a loving home. She loves going 'walkies' and can easily go for 40 minutes or more at a time being much admired by everyone she meets.  She also enjoys a run around the park (must be fenced) with little doggy friends. Mistletoe is a very quiet little dog who loves to lay right across your lap and watch TV.  She bounces on the spot at tea time like she’s on a pogo stick and is a very endearing girl in many ways, never demanding of attention. Missy is looking for a home, preferably as someone’s constant companion or with another doggy friend for company. She’s happy on her own but loves other dogs as well. Mistletoe needs constant access to get outside to toilet and an owner who will walk her, preferably twice a day if possible. Due to the previous neglect, Missy has dry eye which requires cleansing and drops at the beginning and end of the day with drops at lunchtime if at all possible. She also requires a good quality diet for a sensitive stomach and is on thyroid medication (very cheap) but this may be temporary.

MINI AND SCRUFFY

Two Male Terrier X

Aged approx. 18 months and 3 years

Small size

MINI AND SCRUFFY NEED A NEW FOSTER CARER URGENTLY! PLEASE CONTACT DENISE IF YOU THINK YOU CAN HELP

Mini and Scruffy are best friends and happy, affectionate dogs with very cheeky personalities who need to be housed together.  Scruffy will jump on your lap at any opportunity and loves to snuggle under the doona on a cold night and, while Mini is a little more reserved to begin with, he will certainly let you know when he wants your attention and a big cuddle. They get on well with other dogs and have no problem sharing their home with a cat. Mini and Scruffy are currently staying with two other small dogs, a cat and two teenage children and have slipped into family life with ease. They can happily amuse each other for hours and really enjoy squeaky toys and a run around the back yard. While they love a short daily walk they don't need a lot of exercise as they chase each other around all day. Mini and Scruffys' ideal home will be with a family who have children for them to play with, a working couple who would like two dogs to keep each other company while they are at work during the day or a retired couple who can gives them lots of time and attention. Mini and Scruffy are house dogs who are house trained and can hold on all night without any problems. They both have low maintenance coats that only require a trim, bath and brush to keep them looking good.

Mini and Scruffy come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $500 to adopt the pair. They have also had a heartworm prevention vaccination which will protect them for one year. If you would like more information on Mini and Scruffy or to arrange to meet them, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. BETTIE

Female Maltese X

Aged approx. 3 years

Small size

Bettie is a delightful dog with the biggest brown eyes imaginable! She is ready and waiting for her new home to come along and, as she has lots of energy, Bettie would do best in a home where she will be walked each day. Bettie is in foster care with a family who believe that she will benefit from the company of another dog but Bettie does not like cats so a home that is feline-free would suit her best. Bettie would like a family who will include her in daily activities such as walks to school with the children and games in the afternoon. She is a house dog who is house trained and her lovely soft coat requires regular brushing and trimming to keep it looking good.

DUNCAN

Male Shih Tzu X

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

This cute little boy loves nothing more than a cuddle or to snuggle up in your lap but is equally fulfilled playing 'chasie' or tug-of-war with his canine 'foster carers'. Although Duncan can be timid on first meetings, once you show him some love you will have a loyal friend for life. This handsome boy is a very fast learner and is now toilet trained, good while walking on lead and enjoys trips in the car. Duncan is a little fearful of loud noises however he is getting used to the sounds of city living quickly. Duncan is not a fussy little man but he loves his food so much that sometimes he mistakes shoes for something on his menu! Duncan is currently being fostered with a Golden Retriever and a Jack Russell and they all go to the dog park daily. Duncan has become a very social boy who would do very well living with another dog. Duncan was very matted when he came to
PAWS and had to be given a complete clip off but his coat will grow back quickly and then he will be a stunner. Duncan is a house dog with a coat that requires regular grooming and would suit a home with older children over 10 years of age.

Duncan comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. If you would like more information on Duncan or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. IGNATIUS

Male Shih Tzu X

Aged approx. 3 years

Small size

Ignatius (or Iggy as he is affectionately known) is full of character and charm and settled into his foster carer's home immediately. He is such an incredibly friendly dog who socialises with dogs, cats and people alike and loves nothing more then lying on his foster carer's lap after a big day at the park. Ignatius is a very well mannered boy who is great at travelling in the car and walks around with glee at the off leash park. He is full of energy but does enjoy a sleep in! Ignatius has a soft golden non-shedding coat and will need regular grooming to keep him in tip-top shape. He is a quick learner, mastering sit in only a few short lessons and loves to play with his soft toys. When ready he curls up in his bed and falls quickly asleep. Ignatius is completely house-trained and would suit a home with people who would give him the ultimate amount of attention and love he deserves. He is an inside dog and would better be suited to a family with no young children.

MILTON

Male Shih Tzu X Maltese

Aged approx. 4 years

Small size

Milton is a  lovely, gentle and rather quiet dog who loves human attention. His foster carer said that when he looks up at her with his big soulful eyes that she just has to pick him up and give him a big cuddle. Milton enjoys his food and has a great time playing 'rough and tumble' with the other dogs he is in foster care with. Milton has become very attached to the humans in his foster home quite quickly and especially loves the human mum in the house, following her everywhere then sitting and watching to see what she is doing. Milton really likes going out for walks and meeting the children in the street who give him lots of pats and hugs. His coat had to be clipped off due to severe matting but he will be a very handsome boy when it grows back and will require regular grooming and clipping to keep him matt free.  Milton is a house dog who is completely house trained and uses a doggy door to go in and out. He sleeps all night long without a fuss and would suit a home with a family who have another dog, a retired couple or a family who are not out at work five days a week leaving him on his own.

Milton comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. He has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). TEMPORARILY WITHDRAWN FROM ADOPTION UNTIL MADISON HAS HAD HER SURGERY AND FULLY RECOVERED

MADISON

Female Shih Tzu X Maltese

Aged approx. 5 months

Small size (when fully grown)

Madison's mother came to us from the Pound already pregnant and when x-rayed by the vet she was found to have three puppies almost ready to be born. Lily-Belle had her puppies one week later, two boys (now rehomed as was her mother) and one little girl who we called Madison. The puppies thrived as Lily-Belle was a very good mum and had lots of milk but when they were taken to the vet at 6 weeks old for a check up it was discovered that Madison had a heart murmur. The vet was concerned and suggested that we did not offer her for adoption until we confirmed that she was OK. Madison went back to the vet two weeks later where the news was no better. She went to see a Medical Specialist at SASH (Small Animal Specialist Hospital) in Sydney who did an ultrasound and other tests and the news was all bad for Madison as one of her arteries is too narrow and she will require surgery by a cardiologist in Brisbane or she will die in the not too distant future. Madison has had a follow up ultrasound which showed that there is no improvement at all so she is going to see the cardiologist when he returns to Sydney in the next few months and we hope that she will have her surgery in Brisbane soon after. Madison's foster carers are going to drive Madison to Brisbane for the surgery which is extremely costly and she is only able to have it due to the kindness of another of our wonderful foster carers Chris Shaw as Chris's birthday gift to himself was to pay for the surgery. Madison and PAWS would like to say 'thank you' to Chris for making the surgery a reality and giving Madison the chance to have a normal life after she recovers. PLEASE NOTE MADISON IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION UNTIL SHE HAS HAD THE SURGERY.

UPDATE 31 AUGUST: Madison had her surgery in Brisbane this morning! The surgery was performed by cardiologist Dr Brad Gavaghan and a vascular surgeon. The surgery did not go completely to plan however the end result was what we were hoping for and Madison will now go on to lead a long, happy and healthy life. Thank you to the vets, foster carers, Chris her sponsor and all those who have phoned or emailed to wish Madison the best for her surgery and recovery.

PEARL

Female Maltese X

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Pearl is a very cute dog and her foster carer thinks she looks like a gorgeous little panda doll! When Pearl arrived at her foster home she was extremely scared and timid but, with the love and reassurance of her very kind carers, she is now starting to come out of her shell and not shy away from asking for attention. Over the past few days she has even started to become a little adventurous and playful and has joined in some doggy games with Milton, another PAWS dog. Pearl would do well in a family environment provided it is not too rowdy as she is still scared by new people, sudden movements and loud noises but she will become accustomed to all of these given time. The company of another small, sweet natured but confident dog would be good for Pearl and help her gain confidence. Pearl is a house dog and must have access to the house via a doggy door or similar at all times.

Pearl comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. SEBASTIAN

Male Maltese X Shih Tzu

Aged approx. 2years

Sebastian is a real character with plenty of 'get up and go' who loves to play 'chasie' and wrestling games with his doggy mates. Sebastian loves to talk to you if you have the time to listen. This clever boy can sit up and beg and will hold this adorable position forever. The highlight of Sebastian's day is snoozing next to his foster carer, just as long as he can stretch out comfortably. Sebastian is a well mannered boy and is almost house trained and he must have indoor access through a doggy door or similar. Sebastian will need regular brushing and grooming to keep him looking absolutely fabulous.

MACLAY

Male Shih Tzu X

Aged approx. 14 years

Small size

Maclay is the most gorgeous little man and we cannot understand why his family no longer wanted him. Don't let his age fool you because this spirited young chap races up and down the fence with his mate Humphrey (another PAWS foster dog) and leaps over a small wall into the driveway and back over again. Everyday is a new adventure for Maclay as he trots around the off leash dog park,  charging through puddles and socialising happily with other dogs. Maclay really really  loves his food, always finishing in first place! Incredibly, this boy still has lots of pearly white 'toothy-pegs' and is in good health so needs absolutely no medication. His foster carer says that 'Maclay still has plenty of living to do!!' This young man loves cuddle time and will ask politely for your attention and then settle quietly beside you with his fluffy paws and head on your lap. Maclay is well mannered, loves riding in the car, likes cats and is house trained. He could be rehomed as an only dog with older children, only if his family do not work long hours. Ideally, Maclay would be best suited to a retired couple as he adores human company. Gentle brushing and regular grooming is a must for this special little guy and indoor access is important as Maclay is a house dog.

THANK YOU TO THERESE RICHARDSON FOR HER KIND DONATION TO HELP MACLAY !!

Maclay comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention for the special adoption fee of $150 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. ALVIN

Male Shih Tzu X

Aged approx. 4 years

Small size

Alvin is a small boy with a big personality and a 'happy go lucky' attitude. He has beautiful big dark eyes and the most expressive face his foster carer has ever seen, tilting his whimsical head whilst listening to your every word. We believe Alvin has probably never seen another dog before but he now delights in chasing his doggy foster brother around the house at top speed and then sharing chew toys. Poor Alvin was rescued from the Pound with dirty, matted hair and ears completely impacted with grass seeds and was a little on the thin side. Now he is beautifully groomed, has healthy ears and is putting on more weight as he loves crunching on his biscuits throughout the day. Alvin discovered an open suitcase and has made this his very own, so it is now furnished with a soft, luxurious pillow and a warm blanket for his comfort and joy! This adorable little pooch would love to be carried around all day and will leap into your arms as a 'subtle hint' because, when you're this cute, why would you bother walking?? Basically. where ever you sit, Alvin will always join you, asking for your lap and loving you forever as he is a loyal little chap! Alvin is learning to walk on a lead, is not a barker and is nearly house trained. We would like to rehome Alvin with another dog of similar size who would play gently with him and be his companion. Alvin is a house dog and must have indoor access through a doggy door or similar and will need regular brushing and grooming to manage his splendid coat.

GEORGIE

Male Maltese X

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Georgie is only a young boy who was rescued from the Pound a complete and utter matted mess (see photo below) and his coat was in such a state that we can only assume he had never been groomed before. Georgie was clipped off whilst he was anaesthetised for his desexing surgery, which was the kindest thing to do as a coat this matted is very uncomfortable and can even cause the dog pain to clip off.  Georgie is now in foster care with a loving family consisting of mum, two teenagers, a doggy foster brother and the resident cat. He has settled in beautifully and is a sweet and loving dog. For the first few days in his foster home, poor Georgie did not even know how to eat from a bowl and would only eat from the floor or try to eat from the garbage .... what a dreadful life he must have had before. Those days are most definitely over now and thankfully the past has not affected Georgie's personality at all. He is now eating his meals from his bowl, playing and romping with the other dog and playing with toys. He is especially fond of squeaky toys and loves to have his ears and back scratched. Georgie is a house dog and a bright boy who mastered 'sit' in just a few short sessions. He has picked up house training without any problems and can already use the doggy door (with the flap up) and take himself outside when he needs to toilet. Georgie does not bark unnecessarily, nor does he chase or bark at the cat and he sleeps all night curled up on either the bed of his foster mum or one of the teenagers. Georgie is on the larger size for a Maltese X and is a sturdy little dog weighing about 8 kilos. Although he has been clipped very short now his coat will grow and he will require regular grooming and clipping to keep his coat knot free and in good condition. Georgie is ideally suited to a family with children 8 years or older who have another similar sized, desexed dog to be his companion and playmate.

Georgie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. If you would like more information on Georgie or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. HAMISH

Male Schnauzer X Yorkshire Terrier

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Hamish is a sweet natured little dog with a loving personality and a laid back attitude to life. Hamish is in foster care with a family with children (10 and 14 years) and a little female Shih Tzu and has taken to family life like a duck to water. Hamish's foster mum says he is a superb dog who is just so easy to have around and a clever boy who quickly settled into the household routine. Hamish has lovely house manners, is housetrained, can use a doggy door, walks well on the lead, sleeps all night without a fuss, eats whatever is put in front of him and is very obedient and responsive to commands. He is not a barker or digger and is not demanding of attention, but will lap up as much love and affection as you want to give, especially if it involves sitting on an available lap for cuddles and tummy rubs. Hamish is a house dog, his coat is low shedding and requires regular grooming and clipping several times a year to keep him comfortable and looking good. He would do well in a family environment (children 8 years and older) and loves to spend time with his foster family and will follow them around. Hamish needs the company of a small, desexed dog in his new home as he does not like to spend time alone and will fret without the company of another dog but his doggy pal must be FEMALE! As Hamish is not a 'full on play' sort of dog he would be most content with the company of a female dog with a similar easy going personality.

Hamish comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. If you would like more information on Hamish or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. BARNSEY

Aged approx. 9 years

Barnsey is a top little dog whose owner sadly passed away. The family did not want Barnsey to live with them so surrendered this dear old fellow to the Pound. Fortunately they contacted PAWS to ask if we could take Barnsey for rehoming and the answer was a resounding YES!  Barnsey's foster carer said he is like a  new dog now as he's had a professional groom and feels pretty good! Barnsey has enjoyed time playing in the sun and sleeping on his foster carer's bed. He has so much personality and is just a lovely and placid little dog. Barnsey can go to a new home as an only dog providing he has access to the house while his owners are at work or out for the day. Barnsey will enjoy going on short walks to the park or even just around the block. He has a condition known as 'dry eye' and is on Optimmune eye ointment and Artificial Tears from the pharmacy which make his eyes feel more more comfortable. Barnsey will probably need this treatment for the rest of his life but his eyes have responded very well in the short time we have had him in foster care. Barnsey is house trained and is a house dog with a coat that will require regular grooming.

FAIRBANKS

Male Purebred Maltese

Aged approx. 8 years

Small size

Fairbanks is another oldie who was left at the Pound to die by his previous owners!   PAWS was alerted to his plight and agreed to take him on for rehoming so Fairbanks is now in foster care with two other small dogs and is perfectly behaved according to his foster carer. Fairbanks likes a bit of play with the other dogs in the home, is not a fussy eater and enjoys cuddles with his carer at anytime day or night. His ideal home will be with a family who know the Maltese breed and love them as they are lovable little dogs. Fairbanks is house trained and will enjoy going for walks, trips to the park or just cuddling up to his special humans. His coat will require regular grooming once it grows back and Fairbanks will only be rehomed as a house dog.

Fairbanks comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention for the special adoption fee of $150 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. He has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). ZEPHYR

Male Purebred Norwegian Elkhound

Aged approx. 12 months

Large size

Zephyr was rehomed by PAWS a few months ago but sadly a loving family member (Zephyr's dad) passed away soon after. Zephyr's mum is finding it to difficult to manage both Zephyr and her other dog on her own so has asked us to help rehome him again. He is a gorgeous looking boy with the most beautiful eyes that look straight into your soul. Zephyr's new home must be with an active family who enjoy a good long walk each day as he has lots of energy and will love nothing more than to walk along beside you. Zephyr will suit a family with older children as he is a strong dog. He has lived with horses and doesn't mind them at all but does not like cats so a home without a cat is a must. Zephyr will benefit from dog training classes as he is intelligent and needs stimulation. He will be OK as an only dog provided he is not left for hours on his own. Zephyr is very good in the house and is house trained. He has a coat that will require regular brushing to keep it looking good.

Zephyr comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350.  If you would like more information on Zephyr or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. LEILA

Female Maltese X Poodle

Aged approx. 11 years

Small size

LOLA

Female Shih Tzu X

Aged approx. 10 years

Small size

Leila and Lola are the dearest old gals you will ever find! Lola toddles along beside her foster carer enjoying a short walk in the sun, loves her food and loves cuddling up either with Leila or with her special human (who at this time is her foster carer). Lola has an beautiful personality and anyone meeting her falls instantly in love. She is completely house trained providing she has access to a grassed area and is as quiet as a mouse, just snoring a bit when she is sleeping (as Shih Tzu's tend to do!) Lola has an absolutely beautiful grey coat and both dogs will require regular grooming. Leila came from the Pound a little while ago as an extremely neglected dog and was matted and emaciated with rotting teeth and absolutely no confidence at all. We think that her previous owner has completely failed in their duty of care to this dear little girl for most of her life. PAWS  decided that as Leila had probably had no love in her life that we would  give her every opportunity to experience the best life can offer from this day forward. Leila went immediately to the vet where the matted coat was clipped from her emaciated body and she had a dental and all other vet work that was deemed necessary at the time. Leila then went into foster care with Lola and they became best friends immediately. They have a lot in common as they are almost identical in age and mobility. Leila and Lola cuddled up together and Lola became Leila's strength as Leila was very sick with kennel cough for a while and seemed to not even have the will to eat or live and was just surviving on a day to day basis. Leila is eating very well now and has put on some weight. Her coat will grow and she will become a very pretty little dog. just like her friend Lola. Leila is still sadly lacking in confidence and needs someone who will sit with her, giving her pats and reassuring her that she is in a good place now. Then hopefully they will gain her trust and she will be able to go on to live a more normal life. Leila quite likes going out for a little stroll and is doing very well with her house training. Leila and Lola will only be rehomed as house dogs and we  would love to find them a home together as we think they deserve to be together forever. Would you open your home and heart to these two dear little dogs?

Leila and Lola come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention for the special adoption fee of  $300 TOTAL. and are not available for adoption outside NSW. They have also both had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). If you would like more information on Leila and Lola or to arrange to meet them, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. LUCY

Female Shih Tzu X Terrier

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Lucy is a very sweet little girl who was very timid and scared when she first arrived into foster care but she has now settled in well and has started to wag her tail. Lucy has a very good appetite and should gain a little weight soon as she is underweight (weighing just under 4 kg). Lucy has started to play with her two doggy foster sisters who are both Shih Tzu's, travels well in the car and is learning to walk on a lead. Best of all, she has  learnt to use the doggy door the first day and is now 99.9% house trained. Lucy sleeps all night in her warm bed next to her foster mum's bed and gives a little whimper in the morning if she needs to go outside .... what a good little girl!!  Lucy loves cuddles and tummy rubs and will fall asleep in your arms like a baby. She loves giving kisses and can be a little cheeky! Lucy  would love a new home with another small dog as a playmate and will only be suitable for children over the age of 8 years due to her small size. Lucy has a coat that will require some grooming and trimming and is a house dog.

Lucy comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. SID

Male Purebred Shih Tzu

Aged approx. 7 years

Small size

Sid is a very solemn boy at the moment as he is in constant pain and was left in this condition at the Pound by his uncaring owners but thankfully PAWS were asked to help Sid by the kind volunteers and staff. Sid has dermodectic mange, a non contagious condition that is completely treatable and Sid has the most wonderful foster carers who are prepared to do all that it takes to bring Sid's wracked body back to good health. Sid's medical protocol is huge at the moment but the vet has a plan for Sid that will see him back to normal within months. It will be a long hard road but in the end Sid will be a healthy and happy boy again. He will go back to the vet each week for injections and special baths that will ease his pain and see the mange disappear. The veterinary costs to help Sid will be quite extensive and Sid will appreciate any financial help you can give to help pay his bills

SASH

Female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

When Sash is out and about at the local dog park it is a guessing competition with others at the park trying to work out just what else this lovely girl has in her breeding besides a Cavalier. Sash (who is about 40cm high and still a little underweight at 8kg) has long legs and is slim so from a distance she looks like a Cavalier. However, when you get close to her, you can notice that she is different and Sash's carer thinks she is probably a Beagle x Cavalier. Sash is a lovely girl with energy to burn and enjoys time at the dog park where she races around the perimeter fence with great gusto. Sash is extremely good on lead and also enjoys behaves well while walking along the street. Sash is a little timid when meeting new people however she warms up very quickly,  A family with older children would be good as she does like a lap to lay on but one with young children would not be ideal. Sash is in foster care with a little female dog and tries to instigate play, therefore a home with another playful dog would suit her down to the ground. If you are interested in adopting an active dog to run or walk with then Sash could well be the dog for you and she would also be a great agility dog. Sash is a house dog with a fairly low maintenance coat that will require a bath and brush to keep her looking good and is house trained.

Sash comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. ELYSSE

Female Maltese X Shih Tzu

Aged approx. 3 years

Small size

Elysse was surrendered to the Pound by her elderly owner and the staff and volunteers worked for many hours on her as Elysse was in a disgusting state. She was riddled with fleas, her coat was brown instead of white and she was obviously terrified. Thankfully the volunteers were quick to realise how timid and scared Elysse was and worked very gently with her. They gave Elysse four baths and flea treatment then the matted hair was cut from her feet and other parts of her body to make her feel more comfortable. As Elysse was a surrender she had to be either rehomed quickly or taken in by a rescue group otherwise she would be euthanased as the Pound was overflowing at the time Elysse was surrendered. PAWS was asked to take this little girl  and did so within 24 hours. Elysse was taken to the vet who very quickly discovered that this darling girl was suffering dreadfully as her jaw was broken in four places. Elysse was taken to SASH (Small Animal Specialist Hospital) at North Ryde where she was examined by Dr Andrew Marchevsky. She will be anaesthetised and her mouth x-rayed to see just what can be done for her. Elysse is only 3 years old and, judging by her condition, has already suffered a great deal in her short life. We will have her surgery done and have promised the Pound volunteers, staff (not to mention Elysse herself!) that we will find her the best possible home when she has made a full recovery from her surgery. Elysse's surgery is going to be very costly so, if you would like to make a donation both Elysse and PAWS would be very grateful!

PAWS would like to thank two of our wonderful supporters and foster carers for their wonderful donation towards the cost of Elysse's surgery. Chris and Ian, thank you again for your continued support of our PAWS dogs!

UPDATE 16 AUGUST: Elysse has had the surgery to repair her broken jaw and is now recovering. She will go back to the specialist in two weeks time for a check up and then in six weeks time will go under anaesthetic again to have both the wire and a tooth removed. Elysse's specialist is extremely pleased as the surgery went well and expects Elysse will go on to have a normal life. She is eating soft food, taking her antibiotics and pain relief each day and is now a very happy girl enjoying time with her foster carer and loving all of the attention she is receiving from the family. PAWS would like to thank Dr Andrew Marchevsky and the staff at SASH for doing Elysse's surgery and would also like to thank all who have donated to Elysse's surgery and the many others who have enquired after her.

MAXWELL

Male Bichon X Poodle

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Maxwell arrived from the Pound in a pretty bad state as he was severely matted with hair all over his face. We think that it is quite probable that Maxwell hadn't seen very much out of his eyes for a while due to the hair covering his entire face (see photo below). Maxwell was taken to the vet for his surgery and, while under anaesthetic, he was given a very short hair cut. It must have been quite a shock for him when he woke from the surgery to be able to see again! Maxwell really had no idea about humans or other dogs when he first arrived at his rescuer's house and just sat in his basket with his new found teddy bear friend watching her dogs. Maxwell appeared bewildered by their presence and just watched, but he did quickly enjoy having the teddy in his basket and soon cuddled up to it feeling very warm and clean, something he had not experienced for a very long time. Maxwell then went into foster care with a young couple who have no children. He was very quiet and very wary when he first arrived in care but, day by day, he is coming out of his shell and the true Maxwell is being revealed. Maxwell was probably purchased as a pretty puppy (designer dog) and, when his coat began to grow and he became matted, we suspect that he was "thrown out into the back yard" and ignored. The best home for Maxwell will be with a family who don't have small children as he has been through quite a bit in his short life and we feel that a quieter home will be best for him. Maxwell will gain confidence as time passes and he feels more secure but he will require walks and socialisation with other dogs. A small dog in his new home will also be very good for him. Maxwell is slowly putting on weight as he was severely underweight when he came from the Pound. He is house trained and is a house dog who loves his toys and sleeps all night long in his basket next to his foster carers' bed. Maxwell has a high maintenance coat that will require lots of brushing and regular trips to the groomer for a clip to keep him looking lovely.

Maxwell comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. He has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). FINNEGAN

Male Poodle X Maltese

Aged approx. 5 years

Small size

Finnegan is a dear little dog of around 5 kilos who was surrendered to a vet clinic by his owner who is not in good health. Finnegan is in foster care with other dogs and gets along very well with them. He loves his foster mum but is quite wary of men, although we think with time and patience that will improve as Finnegan has made great progress with his carer's son who he now loves. Finnegan would enjoy a home with a nice family who have children over the age of 8 as younger children may scare him with their sudden movements but he would enjoy playing with children who could give him lots of cuddles. A home with a retired couple who have plenty of time to spend with a small dog would also be great. Finnegan will enjoy going out for a walk and having regular socialisation with other dogs at the park if he is to be an only dog. A home where he will be left alone all day without the company of another small dog his size if his owners are working people is not the home for Finnegan. Finnegan is house trained and is a house dog with a lovely curly coat that will require regular clipping to keep it looking terrific.

ARMANI AND ANGEL

Male and Female Cocker Spaniel X Poodle

Both aged approx. 4 years

Medium size

Armani and Angel were surrendered by their owners as they could no longer keep them due to work commitments. They are fantastic with children and are always vying for cuddles and attention from them. Armani and Angel are active dogs who must be walked every day for at least 30 minutes and they are very well socialised in an off leash park so time at a park would also be great for them. Attendance at a dog training club would also suit these intelligent dogs. Armani is extremely good on the lead however Angel does need a little work in that area. Armani and Angel need a nice backyard when they are outside to run and play in and would love a home where they are allowed inside to participate in some cuddle time, a little TV watching, snoozing on their beds in front of the heater etc. but they are not suited to a home with cats as they will chase them!  Armani and Angel are siblings and have always been together so are a ready made family of dogs and we have promised them that they can stay together forever. Armani and Angel have high maintenance coats that will require regular brushing and clipping to keep them tidy and clean.

Armani and Angel come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $400 TOTAL. CHOOKY

Female Terrier X

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Chooky is an absolutely delightful little dog and is personality plus! Chooky loves riding in the car, going on walks with her foster carer and spending the day playing with the other dogs in her foster carer's family. Chooky would love a home with an older active family (no small children please) who are walkers and would like a dog that enjoys going out everyday for a long walk. She is tolerant of cats but not a huge fan of them so a home without a feline friend would be best. Chooky is house trained, is a house dog and has a fairly low maintenance coat that will require weekly brushing and a trim and a bath every couple of weeks.

Chooky comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. LICORICE AND TOFFEE

Two Male Maltese X Silky Terrier Puppies

Both aged 7 weeks

Small size (when fully grown)

Licorice and Toffee are the most delightful little puppies! They require a home with a family who are going to be committed to taking them to puppy school and big dog school once they have grown sufficiently.  When Licorice and Toffee have finished growing they will only be small dogs and their foster carer is working on their house training. Licorice and Toffee will require a small walk each day, a lap to sit on, some children to play with or a retired couple who have plenty of time to spend with them. Ideally we would like Licorice and Toffee to be rehomed together however, if that is not possible, a home with another small, desexed dog for company would be fine. Licorice and Toffee are house dogs with coats that will require regular grooming and clipping.

Licorice and Toffee can be rehomed separately and will be available for adoption when old enough to go to their new homes.

Licorice and Toffee come desexed (when old enough), microchipped, FULLY vaccinated, wormed and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $500 EACH. MING

Female Purebred Shih Tzu Puppy

Aged approx. 5 months

Small size

Ming has only been with her foster family for a short time but with her loving and extremely gentle nature that is all it took for her to completely win them over. She is a very loyal little dog and very, very clever. Her foster carer says she is a breeze to train and always obeys commands. Ming promptly learnt to sit for treats, to only toilet on newspaper or outside on the grass, even giving a little whimper to let her foster family know when it is time for her to go outside. Ming is happy to lay and watch TV or to run and play with the other dogs in her foster home but she is at her most happy when being patted and praised. Ming loves to have people around her and would make a wonderful addition to most household situations. She would not enjoy spending all day home alone so if new family are busy with work and school then the company of a small, playful, desexed dog is a must. Ming has been recently clipped right off, but her very pretty coat will quickly grow and require regular brushing and clipping.

Aged approx. 8 years

Toy size

Amelia is a precious and dainty little dog with a soft, quiet nature. She is a very well behaved girl and her foster carer is yet to hear her bark or complain about anything at all. Amelia is affectionate and really enjoys the comfort of a nice warm lap to sleep on but, when no laps are available, she is just as happy to curl up in the doggy basket with the other little dogs in her foster home. Amelia is a house dog with a coat that does not shed but does require regular grooming and clipping several times a year. She is ideally suited to a home with active retirees or someone who spends most of their time at home, alternatively a home with another small desexed dog to be her companion if her new family are working people would suit her too.

Amelia  comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention for the special adoption fee of $150 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. GINGER

Female Poodle X Maltese

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Ginger is a very sweet and exceptionally friendly Poodle X and is currently in foster care whilst awaiting her forever home. Ginger is really still a pup at just one year old and is white in colour with beautiful grey, ginger and black highlights. Ginger unfortunately came to us very matted and needed a pretty thorough clip but she will have a beautiful thick curly coat when her hair grows back and it will require regular groomingGinger is the one of the friendliest girls around and will regularly approach strangers, including children, for pats and cuddles. She is still very young and very active and just loves playing games with humans and other doggies and her favourite activity is a trip to the park. Ginger is a good student and learning how to walk nicely on the lead. She is fairly obedient and always comes when called so basic ongoing training would be an excellent way of keeping this little girl busy and stimulated. Ginger is a house dog and would love a home with another small dog for company.

CHARLIE AND GYPSY

Male and Female Shih Tzu X Maltese

Aged 5 years and 3 years

Small size

Charlie and Gypsy were surrendered to the Pound as their owner was going to have a baby. Lets just hope she doesn't dump the baby one day! Charlie and Gypsy would love a home together as they have always been together and are devoted to each other. They would enjoy  a quieter home without small children however older children will be fine or a retired couple looking for a nice ready made family of dogs to love. Charlie and Gypsy will enjoy a stroll to the park, a ride in the car or just chilling out on the couch at home. They are doing well with their house training and are house dogs with high maintenance coats that will require regular grooming.

Charlie and Gypsy come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $500 TOTAL. If you would like more information on Charlie and Gypsy or to arrange to meet them, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. SMUDGE

Male Lhasa Apso X

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Smudge is a happy, lovable, soft and good natured boy who gets along with everyone, including small children and other dogs. Smudge has a puppy-like nature about him and gets very excited when he sees his foster mum and dad first thing in the morning. Smudge is house trained and loves to be with his humans so a home where he would left alone for long periods of time is not suitable for this boy. Smudge loves to go walking and as he looks and smiles at everyone, people love the adoring look he gives them as he walks along as he is a very social boy. Smudge's new home should be filled with a family who are looking for a loving companion and another small dog in the family would be great company for Smudge if his owners are working people.  Smudge is a house dog and has a high maintenance coat that will require regular grooming and clipping to keep it looking great.

Smudge comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. He has also recently had his dew claws removed. If you would like more information on Smudge or to arrange to meet him, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. ELTON

Male Purebred Shih Tzu

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Elton is a delightful boy, with the sweetest face and personality! He settled into his foster carer's home with ease and gets along famously with their other foster dog Ignatius. Elton came to his foster carer very underweight but thanks to his big appetite he is now gaining the weight he needs. Elton is a very quiet, cool, calm and collected boy with a gentle and precious personality. He is completely house trained and has a beautiful, thick coat that will need regular clipping and grooming to keep him looking fabulous. Elton enjoys playing 'fetch' with his toys and getting lots of pats from anyone and everyone! Elton is a house dog but truly loves being outside, especially lounging in the sun!!! He is also a very well behaved dog who has learnt how to 'sit' and 'catch' with ease. Elton will suit a family who will take him on lots of walks to the park and would like a small dog his own size as a companion if his owners are working people.

Elton comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350. He has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). ELIZA DOOLITTLE

Female Chinese Crested Powder Puff X

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Sweet, cuddly and lively are the best words to describe Eliza Doolittle! She would suit someone who enjoys close interaction with their pooches as she’s a bit like a baby and curls her paws to cling on to you at times! Eliza's greatest joy is to snuggle into your arms and bury her tiny head into your neck and she will do this for a very long time without moving. The rest of the time she springs around like a little gazelle - she’s fast on those very long legs, runs like the wind and can jump quite high. Eliza is very much like a Chinese Crested in her behaviour and this will not suit every home (please read up about this breed before applying). Considering she has obviously had a terrible beginning in life, it is testament to her nature that she is still so trusting and loving. Eliza loves a game with a toy and with other dogs and would not like to be left alone at all so will need another dog for company, preferably of a similar age so they can keep each other occupied. She is not used to being walked on a lead and we are working on that! Eliza has some funny little ways and will carry your socks and other items from one room to another.  Although only young, Eliza had been very neglected wherever she came from as she was thin, filthy and what remaining hair she had was matted and smelt terrible. After two baths and having most of her hair shaved off, she was a lot more comfortable but far from looking her best.  Eliza was too terrified to attempt coming into the house as if she’d been severely punished for doing so in the past. She also had to have a dental and her dew claws removed but was very well behaved and didn’t chew her bandages. Eliza worries if you move too fast, flattening herself to the floor and therefore is best suited to a quiet home without young children but we think gentle, older children would most likely be fine.

Eliza Doolittle comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $350 and is not available for adoption outside NSW. She has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). If you would like more information on Eliza Doolittle or to arrange to meet her, please phone 0466 690916 (between 8am and 7pm only) or email using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading.
